WOVEN is a unique organization in the Richmond area dedicated to helping women and children fulfill their dreams and their destiny. They provide educational resources to women in Richmond and around the world.

Renee Cobb is the president of WOVEN and executive director of the Women’s Resource
Center. For years she worked with women business owners in Khazazkstan and is beginning to work with women business leaders in Romania.

She believes that, “Women in this country have the opportunity to make a difference in their lives and their children’s lives,” and she is dedicated to helping them do just that.

She has started a new the new Women’s Resource Center, located on Patterson Avenue, which aims to provide educational resources to women in Richmond. The Women’s Resource
Center works to provide women with the opportunity to learn and develop in a wide array of areas, whether that means building self-esteem, or learning how to be a leader, or mastering finances.

The organization is new and looking for volunteers. It seems like an amazing place for
Richmond students to work. The Jepson students could work on developing leadership training tools. So many women, especially in inner city Richmond, are faced with problems which they could change if they could lead and mobilize others in similar situations. Take the condition of their children’s schools for example. If the mother’s could lead and undividedly approach the city and demand quality education for their children who knows what the possibilities could be. WILL students could work with the women in developing a sense of self and self confidence. Business Students could be involved in the micro-financing aspects of the venture. This is an innovative organization and the potentials here are exciting.
